《生活、認知與中文教學》是一本將理論銜接到生活層面和課堂上的小書，也是一本記錄生活中教學素材的行腳日記。全書共分為十七章，每一章皆由生活中的照片或圖片導入理論的反思與聯結，而後討論該張照片和「生活與中文教學」的關係，再引入「認知與中文教學」之中，把理論、生活與教學串連起來。「老師園地」則是應用該章節理論的實際教案，讓讀者們看到其中可資應用的深度與廣度，以及理論銜接到課室的可能性。此外，每章都有反思任務、指定閱讀與任務佈置的建議，最後並附有參考書目。
